Local SEO Adelaide: Get Found by Customers Nearby
Local SEO in Adelaide decides who gets the call when someone searches "plumber Norwood", "physio near me" or "accountant Adelaide". Google answers those searches with a map and a short list of businesses before any normal results. If you are not in that list, most people never see you.
wow.digital provides local SEO for Adelaide businesses, backed by more than 15 years of experience in SEO, web design and development. We set up and look after your Google Business Profile, build a steady flow of genuine reviews, fix your listings across the web and create suburb and service pages for the areas you actually serve. No lock-in contract, and a plain monthly report on the calls it brings in.

How Google Ranks Local Businesses
Google says local results "are mainly based on relevance, distance, and popularity" (Google Business Profile Help). Each one points to different work:
| Factor | What it means | What you can do about it |
|---|---|---|
| Relevance | How well your profile and website match the search | Accurate categories, a full list of services, and a page on your site for each service |
| Distance | How far you are from the person searching | You cannot move, but you can make your service areas clear and build pages for the areas you cover |
| Prominence | How well known you are. Google counts links to your website and how many reviews you have | Genuine reviews, listings on trusted directories, and mentions from local and industry sites |
Distance is why the map results change from suburb to suburb. A business can rank first at its own address and not appear at all ten minutes away, so we track rankings across a grid of points around your service area, not from one spot.
Our Local SEO Services in Adelaide
Google Business Profile optimisation
Your profile is what appears in the map. We choose the most specific primary category, list every service, set your hours and service areas, add real photos of your work and team, and post updates. We keep your business name as it is in the real world: Google says adding unnecessary information to the name "isn't permitted, and could result in the suspension" of the profile (Google's guidelines).
Reviews
Reviews are one of the few ranking factors you control directly. We set up a simple way to ask every customer, with a short link and message, and help you reply to every review. We never buy reviews or ask only happy customers: Google prohibits selectively soliciting positive reviews (Google's review policy), and the ACCC says it is against the law for a business to create fake or misleading reviews or arrange for others to do so (ACCC).
Listings and citations
Your name, address and phone number should be identical everywhere they appear: Apple Business Connect, Bing Places, True Local, Yellow Pages, Hotfrog, industry directories and associations such as Business SA or your trade body. We find the old addresses and phone numbers and fix them, so Google and AI tools are not left guessing.
Suburb and service pages
A page for each service, and for each area you genuinely cover, saying what you do there and how quickly you can attend. We do not create near-identical pages that swap one suburb name for another. Google treats those as doorway pages under its spam policies.
On-site local signals
Consistent contact details on every page, LocalBusiness structured data, a contact page that works on a phone, and internal links between your services and the areas you serve. The technical side is covered in our technical SEO checklist.
Call and enquiry tracking
We track calls, direction requests and website visits from your Google Business Profile, and enquiries from your website, so the monthly report shows what the work brought in.
Shopfront or Service Area Business?
Local SEO works differently depending on whether customers come to you or you go to them.
| Shopfront business | Service area business | |
|---|---|---|
| Examples | Cafes, clinics, gyms, retailers | Plumbers, electricians, cleaners, mobile mechanics |
| Address on Google | Shown, and customers visit it | Hidden if customers do not visit, with service areas listed instead |
| Where you can rank | Mostly close to your premises | Across your service area, strongest near your base |
| What matters most | Photos, hours, reviews that mention the visit | Service area pages, reviews that mention the job and suburb |
Google says a service area "shouldn't extend farther than about 2 hours of driving time from where your business is based", and a rented mailing address you do not work from, known as a virtual office, is not eligible for a Business Profile (Google's guidelines). We set your profile up within those rules, because a suspended profile disappears from the map entirely.
Local SEO Checklist for Adelaide Businesses
Work through these in order. The first five cost nothing but time.
- Claim and verify your Google Business Profile.
- Choose the most specific primary category, and add secondary categories only where they fit.
- Fill in every service, your hours, your service areas or address, and your website and phone number.
- Add real photos of your premises, team and work, and keep adding them.
- Make your business name, address and phone number identical on your website and every directory.
- Ask every customer for a review, and reply to every review, good or bad.
- Give each main service its own page on your website.
- Add pages for the suburbs or regions you genuinely serve, each with something specific to say.
- Add LocalBusiness structured data and make sure the site works well on a phone.
- Track calls and enquiries from Google, and check rankings across your area, not just from your own address.
Local Search Across Greater Adelaide
Greater Adelaide stretches a long way north to south, so distance matters. A business in Salisbury rarely appears in the map for someone searching in Glenelg, and a Norwood clinic competes mostly with clinics in the eastern suburbs.
We plan your local SEO around where your customers really are: the north (Salisbury, Elizabeth, Mawson Lakes), the south (Marion, Morphett Vale, Noarlunga), the east (Norwood, Burnside, Magill), the west (Glenelg, Henley Beach, West Lakes), the Adelaide Hills (Stirling, Mount Barker) and regional areas such as the Barossa, McLaren Vale and Victor Harbor. Where you cover several of them, each gets its own page, and your Google Business Profile service areas match.
What Local SEO Costs in Adelaide
Adelaide agencies that publish their prices (checked October 2026) charge roughly:
- $1,200 to $2,000 plus GST a month for ongoing SEO for a small local business
- From around $750 plus GST for a one-off Google Business Profile optimisation, as one Adelaide agency publishes it
These are market ranges, not a wow.digital price list. We quote in writing after the free audit, based on how many locations and services you have and how competitive your area is. Our SEO Adelaide page sets out the wider SEO market.
What to Expect and When
- First month: profile, categories and listings fixed, tracking in place, review requests started.
- Months 2 to 3: service and suburb pages published, reviews building, rankings moving close to your base.
- Months 3 to 6: map and organic rankings widening across your service area, with more calls and direction requests.
Fixing a profile can show results within weeks. Prominence, the reviews and mentions that build up over time, takes months. Nobody can guarantee a place in the map, and we will not.
Local SEO and AI Answers
When someone asks ChatGPT or Google's AI Mode for a local recommendation, the answer draws on the same things local SEO builds: business listings, reviews and clear pages about what you do and where. Consistent details across the web matter even more here, because AI tools cross-check them. See our AI SEO service for more.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much should I pay for local SEO in Adelaide?
Adelaide agencies that publish prices charge roughly $1,200 to $2,000 plus GST a month for ongoing SEO for a small local business, as of October 2026. A one-off Google Business Profile optimisation is published from around $750 plus GST. wow.digital quotes in writing after a free audit.
How long does local SEO take to work?
Fixing your Google Business Profile and listings can show results within weeks. Rankings across a wider area, which depend on reviews and mentions building up, usually take three to six months.
What is the Google map pack?
The map pack is the map and short list of businesses Google shows above the normal results for local searches such as "plumber near me". Google ranks the businesses in it mainly on relevance, distance and how well known they are.
Do I need a physical address to appear in Google Maps?
You need a real location you work from, but customers do not have to visit it. Service area businesses can hide their address and list the areas they serve. A virtual office, a mailing address you do not work from, is not eligible under Google's guidelines.
How do I get more Google reviews?
Ask every customer, soon after the job, with a direct link to your review form. Reply to every review. Do not offer rewards for reviews or ask only happy customers, which Google's policies prohibit.
Can I rank in suburbs where I don't have premises?
In the map, distance makes it hard to rank far from your base. In the normal results, a well-written page for each area you genuinely serve can rank, and your Google Business Profile service areas should match those pages.
What is the difference between local SEO and SEO?
Local SEO targets searches with a place in them, or an obvious local need, and centres on your Google Business Profile, reviews and listings. SEO more broadly covers your whole website and searches without a location. Most Adelaide businesses need both; our SEO Adelaide page covers the wider work.
Is local SEO worth it for a small business in Adelaide?
For a business that serves a local area, usually yes. People searching for a local service are often ready to call, and much of the groundwork, such as a complete Google Business Profile and a habit of asking for reviews, costs little beyond time.
